South
West Lakes Trust commissioned Graphic Words
produce series of interpretation panels for their
Wimbleball Lake site, near Dulverton in Somerset.
They required a series of four panels,
each 860 x 470mm.
From reference text and images supplied, Graphic Words
laid out and designed the four panels, sourcing additional
images as necessary.
To increase the impact of the "wild
boar" panel, we supplied
a large cut-out of a boar to provide an imposing image
across the board.
For the "Dam" panel, we superimposed the pre-dam water level
on an aerial photograph produced to show its location during
the planning phase of construction. This helps visitors to
understand the current landscape.
On the "view" panel, we stitched together six separate
images to create a panoramic view of the entire length
of the reservoir, as seen at the viewing point where this
board was located..
The panels were manufactured in GRP (Glass
Reinforced
Plastic), offering good weather resistance and a
high
degree of protection from vandalism.
The panels were mounted in lectern-style
timber frames,
and delivered to the Trust for installation by their staff at
key locations around the Lake.
