Tavistock Branch of the Musucular Dystrophy Campaign has successfully organised
an annual respite holiday for local young
people with MD for over 35 years.

Through
our Holiday Project, we can: - provide young people with MD with a unique
opportunity to socialise with others in a similar situation, as well as the chance
to integrate in a fun way with able-bodied young people - a much-needed chance
to escape the reality of knowing that they will die at a young age.
- provide
a well-earned break for their regular carers and families. In particular parents
have a chance to focus their attention on siblings for a while.
-
enable our young volunteer helpers to experience the problems facing those with
disabilities and to widen their own horizons.
